What is a timebox?
Thanks Tony from Perth for today's question
What do you mean by a 'timebox'?
I'll start by asking whether you have you ever procrastinated? More often than not we've got something to do, like when you had that research project for school, and you would wait until the last minute before doing something... and then it becomes a mad rush for the finish line.
Timeboxing helps us to avoid this, it does what it says on the tin...
We choose a period of time from 10 minutes to 10 months (preferably shorter 😁) and put our focus on that box of time to get to a good enough result. I've used it time and again, in fact when Tony sent in this question, I was midway through a 45 minute timebox for a keynote speech! We have also applied it to create 5 personas in 50 minutes!
So, timeboxes increase energy, focus and productivity!
During our Agile Basecamp workshop, we cover timeboxing extensively, if you would like to find out more about this offering please follow this link.
